Chanel Beckenlehner was crowned Miss Universe Canada 2014 at the conclusion of the national pageant held on Saturday May 24th at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts of the Jane Mallett Theatre. She will represent Canada in the Miss Universe 2014 pageant later this year.Standing 5’8″ high, this beautiful young lady from Caledon is a beauty pageant veteran, having been a Top 12 semifinalist in Miss Universe Canada 2009 (also won the Miss Elegance title and voted as the Audience Favorite). She also represented Canada at the Miss International 2009 and made it to the semifinal.

Being described as “down to earth, positive and approachable”, Chanel has dedicated much of her life to giving back to the community by working with several charitable organizations that help orphaned young children by providing food, health care and shelter to families in need.Chanel attends the University of Toronto as a Political Science Specialist. However, her ambition in life is to pursue an entertainment career, particularly as a television presenter.
 The newly crowned Miss Universe Canada wants to spend her reigning year working for and educating children.
Chanel Beckenlehner, 25, of Caledon, Ont., was crowned with this year's title last Saturday at Toronto's St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, where 64 women competed to represent Canada.
"I was drawn to this industry and am passionate not only to work as a title holder but also for the organization," Beckenlehner told QMI Agency, in her first interview as Miss Universe Canada.
Beckenlehner says the pageant isn't just about being a "pretty girl" but being a role model for education, sports and in general.
ne of her favourite parts of the pageant is its charitable support for kids, like SOS Children's Villages Canada — which builds homes internationally for abandoned and orphaned children — and Operation Smile, which provides cleft surgery to children in Third-World countries.
Beckenlehner says this year's pageant raised $130,000 for children's causes.
"The opportunities we have in Canada, I want to share and give to other kids in the world.”
She is planning a humanitarian trip to Nicaragua with Operation Smile.
