[News] Miss World Israel 2014 - Mor Maman

Mor Maman was crowned Malkat Ha’Yofi Israel 2014 (Miss World Israel 2014)at the conclusion of the national pageant held on march 4th, 2014 at Crowne Plaza in Tel Aviv. The 18 year old beauty from southern Israeli city of Beersheba will represent the country in Miss World 2014, scheduled for this November in London, England.

Much like Obama’s presidential campaign and NASCAR, beauty pageant season never truly ends. It feels like it was only yesterday when Venezuela was in the headlines for claiming the smokiest smoke in the whole Universe, and now its for its government’s most recent string of human rights abuses. Simpler days, indeed.

Yet, the show must go on. New galaxies, provinces, and farm shows must crown a fresh queen. Which is exactly what the Jewish State accomplished yesterday.

Beersheba’s Mor Maman pulled ahead 19 other candidates, including high school students, IDF soldiers, and, well, more students to be crowned Miss Israel and advance to the Miss World competition in November. Mor is the gal on the right. Hail to the Queen.

Maman’s day job: computer graphics artist/surfing enthusiast.

She’s soon to enlist in the Israeli Air Force. Looks to me like Mor can do plenty damage.

Mor’s bio is all shredding the gnar and buzzing the tower. Her mother lost her memory after taking a bad spill and her father followed that up with a heart attack.

“But I quickly understood that I had no other choice but to lift myself up. From a spoiled middle child I became responsible – cleaning, preparing food without neglecting my studies. When I graduated with honors and got on the stage to accept the certificate, everyone applauded. Fortunately, our house is functioning again and we’re happy.”

Like all warrior beauty queens, Mor persevered. The crucible that is the beauty pageant swimsuit competition ain’t nothing after that kind of family strife.

Mor applies that type of strength to all of her endeavors, even if they teach Krav Maga in Israeli high school.

In an interesting bit of culture shock, Mor won Miss Israel while proudly displaying a back tat of what looks to be Tinkerbell. If you can recall, last year’s Miss Kansas fell short of the Miss America title because of her own tattoos. Looks like we have some things to learn from our closest ally in the Middle East.

Doron Matalon was the first runner-up and will represent Israel in the Miss Universe 2014 pageant. The second runner-up was Tamar Skorsirb, The third runner-up was Sasha Alexsandra Shuturov. The fourth runner-up was Natalie Prepelitzki.
