Lisa Xiang was crowned Miss Earth China 2013 at the conclusion of the event held on November 10th, 2013 at the River South Art Centrein Shanghai. The Jiangsu native beauty is 24 years old and stands 1.78 m. She will represent China at the upcoming Miss Earth 2013 pageant, scheduled for December 7, 2013 at the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines.
The Miss Earth China beauty pageant was launched in 2002 to actively promote the preservation of the environment in China. It was also the first year China sent its first representative to the Miss Earth beauty pageant with Zhang Mei as the first Miss Earth China titleholder who competed in Miss Earth 2002.

In 2006, China first entered in the semifinal round of the Miss Earth pageant, where Zhou Meng Ting finished in the top 16 and also won the Best in Talent award in Miss Earth 2006 that took place on November 26, 2006 at the National Museum in Manila, Philippines.

In March of 2013, the franchise was taken over by Qin Xin Media, a Chinese media company, and Yvonne Ye and Michael Rosenthal serve as Co-National Directors. The 2013 Final Pageant is scheduled to be held in Shanghai on November 3, 2013.<br />
On November 10, 2013, the final 2013 Miss Earth China Competition was held at Qian Shui Wan, in Shanghai, China, to a crowd of almost 700 people. A total of 25 contestants competed for the title which focused on environmental issues. "Lisa" Xiang Yang 24 from Jiangsu Province was the winner. She will go on to compete in the International Miss Earth competition on December 7, 2013, in the Philippines. Xiang Yang was crowned by the 2012 reigning Miss Earth China, Jin Rong.
Truth be told, China PR hasn’t really been sending outstanding delegates to Miss Earth for a number of years now. No wonder the best placement they’ve had so far is a Top 16 spot many years back.
But all of that is about to change with the entry of Lisa Xiang in this year’s competition. Miss Earth China 2013 looks very promising. Her face hues close to fair-skinned Filipinas this side of the Asian region. Crowned just last weekend, the 24 year-old comes from Jiangsu and is a TV host and Marketing Executive.
In an interview conducted by Blouin ArtInfo, she said that:
“…I have always been tall and interested in modeling and beauty competitions. Through the directors of Miss Earth China, I learned about the competition and very much wanted to join to support the Miss Earth China eco-friendly, social, and charitable initiatives and activities…
…China, like the rest of the World, is facing some environmental issues. One of the most important is clean water. The government is spending billions of dollars to fix the situation, and some government programs are already showing promise, as reported in a recent study by Stanford University. But it’s not just the government, each one of us has a responsibility to engage in habits to reduce our carbon footprint and improve water quality…”
