Achievements
My first achievement is that I am able to do exercise again. After fracturing my spine in 2004 through long jump, I was unable to exercise or compete for around 4 years. It has taken a lot for me to get back into the gym and build up my strength, but after years of determination I am now able to do most exercises without feeling pain and have got my fitness back on track. Charity work is something I do regularly, I have in the past raised over £2000 for EACH (East Anglian Children’s Hospice) as well as raising over £1000 for a school in Kenya. I have also worked with a local school for children with special needs; we put on an afternoon for them each week where they are able to take part in sporting activities such as football and basketball which is incredibly rewarding for the volunteers as well as the children that take part. I am also currently in the process of organising a charity trek up Mt. Toubkal in Morocco where I hope to raise over £3000 for my local charity Connects, which gives freedom and fun to local child carers by taking them out for an evening to do things they wouldn’t otherwise have an opportunity to do, such as swimming or roller skating.

Talents
Acting is something I adore, I chose this as one of my subjects for A level where I gained 100% in the exam which I was overjoyed with! I also enjoy beekeeping, I have been bee keeping for just over a year now and have just extracted my first years honey. It is also great to be doing something for the environment. I am lucky enough to be able to research honey bee’s with my Dad who is currently researching disease in honey bee’s at the UEA.

Ambitions
I am currently studying for a Natural Science degree, in a hope to study medicine after completing my first degree. Neurofibromatosis is a disease which I am hoping to study specifically, it is a genetic disease which causes growths of tumours on nerve cells in the body, this is something my sister suffers from, and I would love to find a way to prevent it affecting other people. To help me achieve my goal of becoming a doctor, I am working at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital as a thoracic theatre assistant. In Thoracic theatre I work with patients who are suffering with Breast cancer, and Lung cancer, as well as other life threatening conditions. It has really opened my eyes up to how much cancer affects people’s lives and I feel privileged to be a part of their care and take pride that I am able to help comfort them and ease their fears before their operation.
